Math Outside the Lines

A space journey where numbers light the way.

(Created for Skillsmith Rapid Jam July 2025)

Embark on a one-of-a-kind math adventure through a black-and-white universe in search of friendship.

You and a friendly little robot have just received a mysterious signal from deep space. It sounds like an invitation... maybe to make new friends? The only problem is: no one knows where this faraway world is. Luckily, some aliens will send you clues—coded as numbers. To uncover the path and reach the end of the story, you’ll have to decode their messages… using nothing but math.

This game, designed for both computers and touch devices, is made for kids ages 6 to 8 to practice mental math in a fun and engaging way.

Your mission: reach a target number by adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing the numbers sent by the aliens. And the spaceship? You control it right on the screen—just click on planets and operations from the control panel to chart your course.

The visual style of Math Outside the Lines is built on high-contrast, hand-drawn digital illustrations. It brings to life a fantasy world in black and white, where the few colors that appear aren’t just decoration—they're part of the formula that reveals the route. Everything in this game—the art, the story, and the mechanics—invites you to think outside the lines and turn math into a creative act.

Because numbers aren’t just for solving problems. On this mission, numbers are the universal language for connecting with the unknown.
